Stack9 is a software engineering company in Sri Lanka.
We build systems for clients who need them to work. To us, a system works when your staff use it on real data and the old workaround is gone.
Why Stack9 exists
Too many teams build business software to pass a demo, not an audit. It works on the day of the demo, then misses the real process, and someone keeps a spreadsheet next to it. A business pays for that software twice: once for the build, then every month in workarounds, duplicate entry and reports assembled by hand.
Stack9 exists to build the other kind. Engineering builds the system. Integration makes it fit the systems already in place. Compliance technology makes it stand up to an audit. We take on work we can finish, and we say no when we cannot.
How we think about software
We judge a system by whether it is still in use, and still maintainable, after we have left.
Proven tools over new ones
We pick well-documented tools with long support horizons over whatever is new this year. A developer you hire years from now should be able to maintain your system.
The specification is the contract
If we have not written it down, we have not agreed it. We settle disagreements about scope by reading the document, not by remembering the meeting.
Untested code is unfinished
Tests are how we prove the system does what the specification says. They are also how the next developer changes it without breaking it.
No lock-in
You own the code, the data and the accounts. If you move to another team, everything you need is already in your repository. You should be able to leave us.
Where we are
Stack9 works from Sri Lanka, with clients at home and abroad. Sri Lanka is on UTC+5:30, so our working day overlaps the morning in Europe and the afternoon in Australia and East Asia. Overseas clients get written updates to read in their own morning and calls scheduled in the overlap.
